in march this year mark went on an adventure to find Peru's
long winding lefts and we found not just waves:
we met amazing people, who were more than helpful to make
sure we have an amazing trip, visited impressive pre inka sites,
strolled through markets loaded with fresh fish and tropical fruit,
had fantastic meals, road trip adventures and most importantly
we found the longest lefts I ever surfed which made my legs hurt
as much as my arms.

The only downside was the bad photographic light caused by
the daily mist creeping over the hills, but I think the lack of stunning
good surf shots and the quite barren coastline may be one of the reasons
why you can still find some world class uncrowded waves there.

I will definitely be back in Alpakka land one day...

winter walkies

a nice run of pumping surf and sunshine mid february made me feel spring arrived early..
it didn't last for long and soon was followed by a week of freezing cold pumping surf.
So cold though that I binned the dawny and went for a nice early morning walk through the beautiful frosty countryside near Newlyn East instead..

10 Board Challenge

On October the 21st 2012 I organised a Girls only fun competition with an emphasis on style and stoke. Entrants chose one of ten boards which included a variety of fishes, longboards, shortboards and mid length boards.

Unfortunately we didn't get the ladylike playful waves I wished for and were instead greeted by a 6ft+
grinding swell..most of the boards weren't really made for this..

However out of 33 entrants, 20 turned up and competed and I am pleased that everyone enjoyed themselves and showed full commitment all the way through to the final.
Respect to everyone who entered especially to the youngsters as it was difficult conditions.

Claire Louise SmailSian HoskinsSamantha Sunshine and me made it through to the final, with Claire taking the title with her fancy footwork in the reforms, Samantha Raine close behind, me third (tried to get a big one far out back, but couldn’t get into them) and shortboarding Sian Hoskins 4th.

Big thanks again to all envolved to make this such a fun day:
all the competitors, Sarah Bentley from Vans, her mum and aunty, the National Trust, the RNLI, Surfgirl Magazine, Shore Surf School, Godrevy National Trust Cafe, Seed Surfboards, Otter Surfboards, Empire Surfboards.

Hopefully we see you all again next summer for 10 Board Challenge 2!
